abstract="The rate at which a filament cools from incandescence to room temperature was determined for the respective filaments in a double beam headlight. The measurements were made in an atmosphere of 88% argon and 12% nitrogen at a reduced pressure of 600 mm mercury. From the cooling curve obtained, it was determined the filament may remain ductile for up to eight seconds after the headlight was turned off.<p />",
