abstract="The following is a report on a case involving a suspected tampering of a lawn tractor engine via the introduction of the herbicide Roundup® into the engine oil. The active ingredient in Roundup® is the mono(isopropylammonium) salt of glyphosate. The product formed during the reaction of Roundup® in engine oil was successfully reproduced in the laboratory and is characterized by FTIR. Some salts of glyphosate were prepared in this laboratory and a comparison to the product formed in the engine oil is made. The product formed in the engine oil is probably a mixture of glyphosate salts.<p />",
