abstract="This article describes the client management classification (CMC) system. CMC is a comprehensive classification approach consisting of three major components: an objectively scored structured interview; strategies for supervising different types of clients; and a case planning process that stresses practical behavioral objectives. The classification group and supervision strategies are described, stressing implications for both correctional institutions and the correctional field. Three research evaluations of CMC are presented. One survey reflects benefits to line staff, while two outcome studies demonstrate improvement in recidivism and employment.
