abstract="Epidemiological data, typologies and assessment and treatment recommendations on females who sexually abuse children were reviewed. The New Zealand National Police Computer Database was searched to identify all females who had been charged with sexual offences against children from 1978 to 1994 inclusive, and twenty-five females were identified who had offended sexually against children. Clinical data were collected on a sample of eight of these offenders and an attempt was made to apply the identified typologies to these offenders. Possible assessment measures are discussed and the need for research into appropriate treatment methods and outcomes is highlighted.<p />",
