abstract="The Comrehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) maintains hydrophones that have been used to study icebergs and T-wave propagation. These stations consist of three hydrophones at about the depth of sound channel in a horizontal triangle array with 2 km sides. We have used data from these stations in the few tenths of a Hertz and below regime to study if we can effectively use these stations as water column seismometers. Among the processing performed was methods to effectively transform the hydrophone configurations to vector sensors. An assortment of signal processing on hydrocoustic data from the December 26th 2004 Great Sumatra Earthquake has been compared to seismograph data of the same event indicating, that the hydrophone stations can indeed be used as surrogate seismometers.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>",
