abstract="Some of the significant factors that are considered to design and develop products for mental healthcare applications are discussed. Patients suffering from mental illness are a danger to themselves and others and so products and healthcare facilities need to be designed to meet these specific requirements. Windows of these facilities need to be designed carefully to prevent patients from harming themselves by jumping out of the windows or committing suicides. The design of a window needs to focus on minimizing risks to patients. The window of a mental healthcare facility needs to have limited opening range, while being capable of being locked open and locked shut. It needs to include a contraband mesh and be capable of withstanding long attack from an object obtained by a patient from the hospital.<p />",
