abstract="This paper describes a procedure, using logit analysis, to model the mode choice decision of work trip commuters residing in a small municipality, Kingston Township, in the Province of Ontario, Canada. Particular emphasis is given to assessing the appropriateness of including perceptual variables as mode choice determinants in the modelling procedure. Results indicate that a carefully designed survey procedure using a small data base, and the inclusion of perceptual and non?perceptual variables in the demand model contribute to the goodness?of?fit of the the model to the sample data. It is concluded that the modelling procedure may offer potential for evaluating transportation policies designed to ameliorate work trip related problems confronting Kingston Township commuters.<p />",
