abstract="The operational problem of how best to allocate by time of day urban arterial road space amongst public and private transport is addressed. An optimal road space allocation model based on standard traffic flow and impact models is described. The micro?computer based model calculates user costs for people travelling in the system for alternative combinations of mixed?traffic lanes, transit lanes, bus lanes and truck lanes. The model is calibrated and tested using data for Han Gang Road ? Seoul's first experimental bus lane.<p />",
