abstract="Older adults, and older men in particular, are the segment of the US population that has the highest suicide rate. Although research on risk factors continues to grow, there remains limited knowledge of the biologic changes that increase risk for suicide, as well as limited information about contributing psychosocial processes that extend beyond demographic factors. No proven interventions are known at this time, although efforts are underway to test approaches that reach older adults who use primary care services. Continued efforts are needed to change attitudes about mental illness and treatment in order to reach older adults who do not use health care services.<p /><p>Language: en</p>",
