abstract="The Los Angeles City (California) Health Department has reported 2 cases of chemical poisoning. These persons became ill with nausea and vomiting within 15 minutes after drinking from a bulk vending machine. An investigation revealed that a defective carbonator valve permitted carbon dioxide to back up into a copper waterline. Chemical analysis of water from the carbonator showed 260 p.p.m. of copper.",
