abstract="Objective: To explore the mental state of the assaulter in domestic violence toward their children. Methods: A seventy assaulters group was compared with the control group, with the scores of general questionnaire, Screen Questionnaire of Child Abuse, Life Events Stress and Symptom checklist 90. Results: The scores of negative life events and the total scores of life events in the study group were higher than those in the control group, which showed significant difference (18.74 ± 29.09 compare with 7.31 ± 12.53, P = 0.003; 25.56 ± 33.13 compare with 14.47 ± 25.35, P = 0.023). Two groups compared with the total scores and factor scores of Symptom checklist 90, showed no significant difference. Conclusion: The psychosocial factors events play an important role in domestic violence toward their children. We must change the belief that the parents must be abnormal if they assault their children. Normal people may do it.
