abstract="Violators convicted of a nonalcohol-related traffic offense were randomly assigned to a group that attended a traffic violator school (TVS) or to a group that did not attend one.  This report covers an evaluation of the TVS program. All analyses confirmed that TVS treatment did not have a significant effect on subsequent six-month accidents or convictions.  In addition, no significant evidence was found that treatment had different effects within school types (public versus private or multiple-versus single-session).  Several speculations are offered as to why the schools are not as effective as they seem to be in earlier years, including the possibility that the current policy of dismissing convictions for attendees has decreased the deterrent impact of the citation adjudication process.<p />",
