abstract="In this work, the dynamic stability of non linear system representing tractor semitrailer vehicles is studied on the base of a qualitative problem approach. Starting with a small resticted stability domain obtained by using the Hamiltonian of the system as an initial Lyapunov function, and following a direct search procedure with the unconstrained minimization technique (S.U.M.T.), the stability domain of this vehicle system was successfully maximised for quadratic type Lyapunov functions and for the proposed search method.<p />",
