abstract="Cab structure is the best protection for truck occupants in case of accident (if they are belted). Despite everybody agreeing with this obvious assessment, there is no mandatory regulation in most European countries. In fact two different regulations exist (ECE R29 and BOF 10), but each truck manufacturer decides to apply them or not, according to its market and strategy. This situation leads to a poor safety level for cab trucks throughout Europe. A real safety improvement depends on capacity to define one single regulation for all European countries, and set it mandatory. The contribution of RENAULT VI to this improvement consists in bringing our knowledge of truck accidents and help to determine which testing conditions are representative of most frequent truck accidents. This paper presents the approach followed by RENAULT VI to build the shape of a new European regulation.<p />",
