abstract="Several different dynamic road response models (beam on a Winkler foundation, plate on a Winkler foundation, layered elastic hay space) are compared and it is concluded that simple models, such as a beam on a Winkler foundation, can reproduce the characteristics of more complex models, such as a stack of elastic plates. Two different methods of using harmonic response models to reproduce road responses to moving random loads are compared, the convolution and influence function methods. It is concluded that the simpler of the two methods is sufficiently accurate for predicting road damage due to dynamic tyre forces.<p />",
