abstract="The article summarizes the accident statistics and characteristics observed in Kansas City in 1989. Copies of accident reports provided by the police are reviewed to determine whether the incident occurred at an intersection or in midblock. The information is entered into the database. Details of intersection accidents, midblock accidents, and pedestrian accidents are presented and discussed. It is expected that the information presented here will be of use to urban traffic engineers in improving safety.<p />",
