abstract="The issue of sight distance at uncontrolled at-grade railway-highway intersections most definitely needs to be examined from the perspective of probability and severity of failure. Large dollar amounts of property value are lost in a locomotive and motor vehicle collision. More frequently, very serious injury or death result. It is therefore incumbent upon traffic engineers to professionally respond to the possibilities of locomotive-motor vehicle accidents. This article presents a procedure for reducing the probability of these accidents.<p />",
