abstract="A study is reported which developed a set of level of service (LOS) criteria for planning pedestrian walkways in Bangkok, and compared these with those based on Western standards. The details of the study are described including data collection, and data processing. Thai pedestrian characteristics are noted and 6 level of service criteria are proposed. It was found that Thai pedestrians were more tolerant and occupy less personal space than Western pedestrians, and can achieve flows higher than obtained in the U.S.<p />",
