abstract="It is porposed that a ferroresonant transformer combined with battery standby power system be used to solve the problems of poor quality utility power outages. A power system has been developed and tested that conditions utility power to remove noise and transients, regulates the output voltage, and provides standby power sufficient to operate up through an eight-phase intersection. The system uses maintenance-free batteries and provides uninteruupted standby power for 30 minutes during utility outages. It provides status monitoring/communications link interface to signal a central location of power outages, as well as the status of the power system. A variety of enclosures can be used with the functional modules to allow piggyback mounting on existing control cabinets, pole mounting, and ground mounting.<p />",
