abstract="The article presents a summary of an Equipment Standard of the Institute of Transportation Engineers approved in January 1993. The standard was developed in accordance with formally adopted procedures, and covers a retroreflective pavement mariking material of the type that is applied to the road surface in a molten state by either screed/extrusion, suspended extrusion or spray means with a surface application of glass beads at a rate specified by the purchaser. Upon cooling to normal pavement temperature, it produces a retroreflective marking of specified thickness and width capable of resisting deformation by traffic. This article describes the classification, requirements of the thermoplastic mixture, and application properties.<p />",
