abstract="Stone and brick arch bridges on the National Highways (NH) of Uttar Pradesh, India are deteriorating due to lack of maintenance. The bridges are affected by blocked drainage holes, increased dead load due to laying of bituminous layers on existing surfaces, plant growth, and the addition of service lines. Case studies are presented of the rehabilitation of brick masonry arch bridges and roller compacted concrete (RCC) bridges on NH-96, NH-24 and NH-76. Details are given of the status of each bridge and the techniques used to rehabilitate them. The techniques included the injection of epoxy concrete or cement slurry. It was recommended that old bridges should be inspected monthly from the underside for the timely detection of damage.<p />",
