abstract="This article discusses the new document produced by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) called Implementing the Rule on Work Zone Safety and Mobility that provides official advice for traffic congestion, roadway rehabilitation, and maintaining work zone safety. The rules are provided for projects that receive federal aid. In terms of work place safety, the guide discusses the implementation of transportation management plans (TMP) along with temporary traffic control (TTC). The article also provides a number of case examples described by the FHWA report that include the use of these recommendation in the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), and the Massachusetts Highway Department. This guide is the first of what will be four FHWA rule guides describing such issues.<p />",
