abstract="In this article, the author revisits and updates some predictions that he made in 1997 regarding changes in transportation technology over the next 50 years. Among the predictions that were accurate or approach what is reality today include the widespread use of LED signals, some in-vehicle navigation systems, sub-surface radar to map utilities' locations, battery backups for power cabinets and perhaps solar or wind power to generate the lower power needed for LEDs, more use of alternative-fuel vehicles and telecommuting will rise. Other predictions are discussed as well.<p />",
