abstract="In the paper the method of numerical modelling of car head-on collision based on the concept of dispersion of stress waves in rod upon axial impact has been presented. Dislocation of the elements of the car body, in the firstapproximation, is described by one-dimensional, nonhomogenous, non-linear partial differential equation like Prandtl model which is solved by nine-point difference scheme. Results of numerical simulation as well as comparison with experiments are discussed. Some remarks concerning the problem of mathematical identification are given.<p />",
