abstract="After describing the general framework of judicial, penal and civil intervention in France, in terms of its procedural rationale, actors, and measures specifically relating to minors, the author examines the volume and different forms of adolescent violence, interpreting available statistics with care. The possible responses to this violence are then dealt with, underlining those particularly suited to the violent minor, namely retribution, educational accompaniment, or detention in a specialized institution. Long-term accompaniment is essential, and one must avoid responses symmetrical to the adolescent's violent act. The judge of minors can rely on the back-up of multiple support workers involved in the judicial management system.",
