abstract="The case we have reported underscores the need for careful screening of patients with organophosphate intoxication before transfer to psychiatric facilities. In particular, this patient demonstrated a recently defined clinical syndrome that required emergency medical and psychiatric management. Organophosphate intoxication is a common method of attempted suicide, which may be superimposed on other illness such as alcoholism. Anticipation of the possibility of the "intermediate syndrome" should decrease lethality.

Language: en
",
