Abstract

This chapter explores the common ground shared by substance abuse specialists and clinicians involved in the treatment of physical injury and highlights the role of prevention initiatives in reducing adolescent trauma. Motor vehicle accidents, interpersonal violence, and suicide are related to substance abuse, and case studies are used to illustrate the potential efficacy of prevention strategies.
