Abstract

Multiple studies show that 45-50% of adolescent victims of violent death have been drinking alcohol before the fatal incident. The authors examine the acute effects of alcohol on the brain and on behavior, discuss the types of teenage alcoholism, and then focus on specific issues such as patterns of inheritance, alcohol use during pregnancy, and fetal alcohol syndrome.
