Abstract

Will the unity of the West, which has constituted the essential element of world order since World War II, be preserved? This question is immediately followed by questions concerning the fate of the basic institutions that maintain global order: the United Nations, NATO, and the EU. This article indicts the United Nations as an ineffective organization that has lost its purpose and usefulness and advocates its demise because it no longer accomplishes what it was founded to do. NATO too has fractured and also seems to have lost its way. The EU as well presents a leftist and socialist face that is at odds with a true free-market economy. What will become of Europe if these attitudes and organizations do not change? The author imagines dire prospects.
