Abstract

The direct simulation method for evaluating system fault trees (ESCAF) has been extended here to perform error transmission using the method of moments. Uncertainty analysis is important to conduct in a full-scale fault-tree analysis, and now the ESCAF apparatus has been updated to provide this capability. In this paper, examples are presented and compared to the earlier results of others. The important conclusion to be drawn is that the direct simulation approach can be utilized to perform full-scale uncertainty analyses.
